Server

A computer that’s always on, ready to respond to requests from other computers (a.k.a. clients).

Analogy: Walk into a diner, hand your order to the kitchen, and the cooks whip up your meal. The kitchen never comes to your table. You always send orders in and get plates (responses) back. That’s exactly how a server works with your browser’s “orders” (HTTP requests).
